real life stories: Renae and Leigh

Check out this 50's weatherboard home kitchen transformation!

Renae and Leigh purchased their 1950's weatherboard house in regional Victoria. Unfortunately, when the couple first purchased the house, many of the original features had been removed. "The house contained a combination of 1970's and 1980's 'updates'," Renae expressed. The kitchen was small, run down and the layout impractical.

"We were able to identify where the original combustion stove was located, due to a partially dismantled chimney located outside the house. We placed the new oven in the same location as the old combustion and changed the layout to open up the space to provide better access to cupboards."

As they were wanting to update the house in keeping with the era it was built, they chose kaboodle country profile doors and a ceramic sink with a more traditional style tap.

"The floor coverings were removed and the original oak flooring restored," Renae said.
